About Our Project

How Do I Learn: How Neuroscience Informs Learning

The How Do I Learn project and this website are funded by the NIH Blueprint for Neuroscience Research and administered by National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), part of the National Institutes of Health. Project partners include the University of Washington (UW) School of Nursing, UW College of Education, UW LIFE Center, UW Educational Outreach, and Puget Sound Educational Service District. The goals of this project are to increase the understanding of neuroscience and learning with parents, students and teachers to improve student success and raise interest in neuroscience careers.

The project has hosted two summer institutes at the University of Washington for teams of middle-school teachers, as well as a webinar-based series of workshops. We have had participants from Kent, Highline, Seattle, Lake Washington, Puyallup, Tukwila, Issaquah, Astoria, Vashon Island, Aberdeen, and even North Carolina!
